Holiday Lights — why & how to put an emphasis on lighting

In our eyes, lighting is art. You can be drawn to your own style, size, details, and a piece can perfectly complement your space and personality. And like art, lighting is something worth investing in. We love a modern, clean scone like the Calla, or the Apollo chandelier that has some drama (which we are using in an upcoming Speakeasy project!) Lighting can last a lifetime and can increase the value of your home, so why not have it be something you love entirely? Today there is a vast selection out there to browse online, and this can often make picking out new lighting feel like a daunting task.

Combining, complementing, and mixing lighting is something we adore. At the store we have a variety of lines and collections to choose from with color + finish swatches available to take home. Something we are extra excited about is our first large display board featuring our Hudson Valley lights! This display will show off our hand-picked favorite wall sconces and pendants from some of the best collections out there. We offer lighting made in collaboration with well-known designers like Kelly Wearstler, Ballard, Becky Owens, and more.

We have had the pleasure of selecting lighting for many custom builds and home renovations this year. One of our favorite rooms to put an emphasis on lighting is in the entryway. By doing this, you have the opportunity to create a statement the moment you or others enter your home. We used the Brigette chandelier in the White’s Home Remodel and in the Rubin Project entryway, and love the contrast and natural feeling it gives. The dining room is our next favorite place to put a statement light. In the White’s Home Remodel we have the Brigette chandelier, where the gold can glow beautifully against the dark wall and ceiling paint. You can see some of our other favorite features in the gallery below —

To highlight the amazing lighting we sell, and to join in on East Village Promenade festivities, we are having a Holiday Lights Sale the first weekend of December, where we will offer 15% off home lighting and candles. And yes, we have some amazing candles, too! Our National Parks Candles, holiday-scented candles, and more will be in full stock.

The sale will go from December 2nd-4th. We would love to have you in prior to show you the lighting and answer any questions you may have!

Do you have questions about the use of lighting? Send them down below in the comments or DM us on our Instagram. We will be doing a Q&A coming up before the Holiday Lights Sale.

And finally, some take-away tips on lighting as you host this season —
